About the role
As part of the Imaging Operations team, you will build, maintain, and operationalize onboard payload software throughout the satellite's lifecycle. This hands-on role involves turning flight software into reliable operational reality, supporting commissioning, anomaly resolution, and in-orbit operations. You will collaborate across engineering, product assurance, and operations teams to ensure software performs reliably on payload hardware.
Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain high-reliability onboard payload software in compliance with safety standards.
- Support the commissioning of the payload and on-orbit activities for each new satellite.
- Support in-orbit operations and the operations team to ensure software reliability.
- Provide operational feedback into software requirements and design across onboard systems.
- Contribute to the evolution of onboard software architecture and laboratory-based validation environments.
- Support the implementation and validation of Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) strategies.
- Work at a high interface with the hardware team to make software operational on payload hardware.
- Support the delivery of new software features and upgrades in collaboration with external suppliers.
- Support verification and validation activities from laboratory testing through to in-orbit performance.
- Contribute to integration and testing activities using Flatsat environments and ground-based simulation platforms.
- Support the investigation and resolution of payload anomalies and non-conformance issues.
- Help define and enhance the in-orbit software update process for the constellation fleet.
- Champion strong configuration management practices across onboard software components.
- Develop and optimize tools for ground-based and in-flight testing, including automation frameworks.
