Design Release Engineer - Airframe

About the role

The Design Release Engineer will bridge the gap between initial mechanical concept and full-scale manufacturing for composite structures and airframe modules. This role involves driving Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly within the design loop to ensure high-performance defense systems are ready for production. The engineer will act as the final authority on product release packages and manage engineering change orders.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the complete transfer package for designated airframe modules, including drawing packages, bill of materials, and material specifications.
• Collaborate with mechanical design engineers to optimize composite layups, bonded joints, and tolerance stack-ups during the design phase.
• Serve as the final authority on product release packages and evaluate transfer readiness against gate standards.
• Manage engineering change orders and act as the technical contact for non-conformance reviews and design clarifications.
• Work with production operations and suppliers to evaluate manufacturing constraints for composite structures.
• Analyze production build data to refine manufacturing dossiers and update standards for future iterations.

Qualifications
