About the role
The Head of Production Test Engineering will lead the team responsible for production testing of physical devices. This role ensures that tests, equipment, software, and instructions are prepared for new product launches and mass production. The position involves building a unified testing roadmap and coordinating across hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a unified production testing roadmap covering new products, product launches, mass production support, and infrastructure improvements
- Lead the engineering team, allocate resources, develop team capabilities, and balance urgent production issues with planned work
- Coordinate dependencies across hardware, firmware, manufacturing, and other teams to ensure production testing is ready for product launches
- Define production testing strategies and acceptance criteria and oversee the development and maintenance of test fixtures, equipment, software, and infrastructure
- Coordinate test deployment at factories, maintain up-to-date instructions, and work with teams to identify root causes of defects
- Analyze production test data, returns, and support cases to identify systemic issues and drive improvements to the product or manufacturing process
