About the role

The Senior Quantum Physicist will join the UK Science team to develop next-generation quantum computers using trapped ion technology. The role involves validating and optimizing system performance through experimental design, data analysis, and the development of novel control schemes. This position is critical for meeting research and development goals by pushing the boundaries of quantum computing performance.

Responsibilities

  • Prototyping and characterising coherent control and cooling schemes for trapped-ion qubits using laser and microwave fields.
  • Calibrating and benchmarking quantum systems, focusing on achieving the highest fidelities for quantum circuit primitives and full circuits.
  • Validating emerging trap technologies, including integrated electronics and photonics for large-scale architectures.
  • Analysing experimental data, debug complex hardware/software interactions, and ensure reliability of qubit operations.
