Robot Pilot

About the role

Tier 2 Robot Pilots are responsible for collecting high-quality manipulation data using VR teleoperation systems to support the development of generalist intelligent robots. The role involves operating robotic systems with minimal supervision, meeting data throughput and quality standards, and troubleshooting routine hardware and software issues. Pilots also assist researchers by executing evaluation protocols and providing detailed feedback on robot and model behavior.

Responsibilities

• Collect high-quality robot training data by teleoperating robotic systems using VR equipment and hand controllers.
• Meet daily performance expectations for data collection throughput, quality, and consistency.
• Follow task specifications and SOPs precisely while maintaining discipline around experiment changes.
• Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to lab safety procedures at all times.
• Support evaluations by running structured protocols alongside researchers and accurately reporting results.
• Troubleshoot and report issues with robot hardware, software, and teleop tooling with clear reproduction steps.
• Perform basic operational maintenance including workspace resets, calibration checks, and battery or component swaps.
