Lead Data Products Engineer

About the role

Baringa is seeking a Lead Data Products Engineer to head a dedicated team focused on curating, designing, and evolving data products that support energy market modelling and client-facing systems. You will work within the internal Data and Processing Platform to ensure data quality, reliability, and scalability while collaborating with subject matter experts to drive the energy transition. This role requires a blend of technical leadership, data engineering expertise, and a passion for solving complex domain-specific problems.

Responsibilities

• Build a deep understanding of the data domain, capturing key data sources and their flow into modelling processes.
• Drive the design and development of foundational data products on the internal Data Platform.
• Own specific domain data products and their supporting processes, ensuring quality, reliability, and evolution.
• Formalise data contracts, including schemas, versioning strategy, and data governance workflows.
• Provide technical leadership to the team, shaping design decisions and balancing commercial delivery with strategic goals.
• Drive engineering best practices, ensuring quality and observability are built into systems.
• Participate in all stages of the agile development process to drive iterative improvements.
