Senior Process Engineer

About the role

tozero is a deep-tech startup focused on lithium-ion battery recycling and decarbonization. The Senior Process Engineer will lead the technical design, scale-up, commissioning, and ramp-up of battery recycling processes, specifically focusing on graphite and lithium extraction. This role bridges the gap between R&D, operations, and industrial scale-up to ensure future plants are built on robust engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Own key process design activities for next-generation plants including PFDs, P&IDs, and mass and energy balances.
• Apply chemical engineering fundamentals to optimize graphite and lithium extraction processes.
• Evaluate operational data to build process models and identify performance gaps.
• Participate in FATs, SATs, and commissioning activities for new equipment and plant expansions.
• Develop standard operating procedures and participate in process safety reviews like HAZOP and LOPA.
