Founding Engineer (Tech Lead)

About the role

Porters is building an operating system for autonomous banking to automate critical, regulated processes. As a Founding Engineer, you will own outcomes by turning ambiguous business problems into clear requirements and designs, building complex components, and leading a team of engineers. You will work directly with founders to scale the product in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

• Personally engineer the most complex, business-critical components and set the technical bar for the team.
• Take ambiguous problems and own them through to delivery, including requirements, design, and project sequencing.
• Architect systems that are reusable, loosely coupled, and maintainable for the long term.
• Set decision thresholds and define paths for experimentation to scale team autonomy and reduce key-person risk.
• Implement CI/CD, quality gates, and automated migrations to ensure production health.
• Solve customer problems by focusing on outcomes and measuring success through customer impact.
