About the role
As a Software Engineer on the Robot Autonomy team, you will design and own the state estimation systems that enable robots to determine their position, orientation, and velocity. You will fuse data from diverse sensors to ensure reliable performance in complex, real-world environments. This is a hands-on role focused on building robust, field-tested solutions for autonomous security platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design and ship real-time estimators for position, orientation, velocity, and angular velocity across robot platforms.
- Fuse data from multiple sensors while handling noise, asynchronous measurements, and calibration errors.
- Develop reusable estimation components and interfaces tailored to different platform dynamics.
- Improve localization and odometry performance in challenging, GNSS-denied, or degraded sensing conditions.
- Integrate state estimation with perception, planning, and control systems to provide reliable data and uncertainty information.
- Investigate system failures using logs, simulation, and field testing to identify root causes and verify improvements.
- Build evaluation and testing workflows to ensure estimator performance is measurable and repeatable.
