About the role

As a Software Engineer on the Robot Autonomy team, you will build and own the state estimation systems that enable robots to determine their position and movement. You will fuse data from various sensors to ensure reliable autonomy across diverse robot platforms in complex, real-world environments. This role focuses on practical engineering and system reliability to support physical security applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design and ship real-time estimators for position, orientation, velocity, and angular velocity across robot platforms.
  • Fuse data from multiple sensors while handling noise, asynchronous measurements, and calibration errors.
  • Develop reusable estimation components and interfaces tailored to different platform dynamics.
  • Improve localization and odometry performance in challenging, GNSS-denied, or degraded sensing conditions.
  • Integrate state estimation with perception, planning, and control systems to provide reliable data and uncertainty information.
  • Investigate system failures using logs, simulation, and field testing to identify root causes and verify improvements.
  • Build evaluation and testing workflows to ensure measurable and repeatable estimator performance.
