About the role
The autonomy team at Gravis architects autonomous behaviors for different tasks, such as excavation or truck loading. This role owns the architecture that allows these behaviors to exist within a unified software stack rather than creating separate stacks for each behavior. You will be responsible for task decomposition, orchestration, interface definition, and maintaining high software quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Own the task-level architecture shared across autonomous behaviors
- Define clear module boundaries and responsibilities between behavior orchestration
- Implement component tests and telemetry/metrics collection pipelines
- Identify technical debt to guide the team toward sustainable solutions
- Act as the go-to person for software quality, including modern C++ practices and code structure
- Design an easily extensible and testable module for deploying policies
- Provide technical leadership on C++ and Python tooling
- Work with the simulation team to unify training, benchmarking, and evaluation tooling

About the Company
Gravis Robotics is a high-growth Series A start-up backed by SoftBank, bringing Physical AI to the construction industry by turning heavy construction machines into autonomous robots. Originally an ETH Zurich spin-out, the company develops machine-agnostic retrofit kits that add autonomy to excavators and wheel loaders.
