Controller

About the role

Notabene is seeking a Controller to own the financial close, accounting policy, and the company's first external financial statement audit. You will manage a multi-currency, two-entity business, overseeing technical accounting, revenue recognition, and the implementation of automated accounting systems. This role reports to the VP of Finance and involves leading the accounting function while raising standards for documentation and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead the readiness assessment, remediation planning, and auditor relationship for the first external financial statement audit.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across multiple legal entities including consolidations and FX translation.
• Author technical accounting positions and memos regarding revenue recognition, software capitalization, and stock compensation.
• Design and implement internal controls over revenue, cash, procurement, and payroll.
• Evaluate and improve the accounting technology stack with a focus on automation for high-volume, rule-bound tasks.
• Oversee US tax compliance and coordinate with external advisors for Swiss compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager at a venture-backed company
• Track record of taking a company through a first external audit
• Experience with month-end close ownership across multiple legal entities and currencies
