About the role

The Director, Systems Software will lead a team of software engineers to develop and manage the software stack powering quantum computers. This role involves defining software roadmaps, managing team processes, and collaborating with quantum scientists to deliver full-stack solutions ranging from real-time control to application demonstration. The position is critical for scaling the team and establishing robust development, DevOps, and support processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the software team and work with other technical teams to build and maintain long-term roadmaps for software projects
  • Capture feature requests from internal conversations and external requirements
  • Understand conflicting priorities and manage the team to deliver according to company needs and timescales
  • Drive detailed software solutions and provide clear updates on issues and progress to stakeholders
  • Own the software team’s backlog and act as the primary point of contact for high-level software architecture
  • Ensure team effectiveness, conduct performance reviews, and support career development
  • Work with the VP of Engineering to plan future growth of the software team
