Senior Python Developer

About the role

City Science is seeking a Senior Python Developer to join their energy development team and lead the design and implementation of Python packages for energy performance assessment. The role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to turn user needs into reliable software while providing line management and mentorship to team members. This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to decarbonisation efforts in a supportive, high-performing environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and improve Python packages for modelling, simulation and data processing.
• Lead engineering decisions, architecture discussions and technical problem solving.
• Turn analytical and modelling needs into shippable software.
• Line manage one or more developers including objective setting and performance reviews.
• Mentor colleagues through code reviews, pairing and knowledge sharing.
• Maintain high code quality through testing and documentation.
• Work across disciplines to integrate tools and deliver results.
• Drive continuous improvement in tools, processes and engineering standards.
