Engineering Manager - Observability

About the role

Grafana Labs is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a distributed team of backend and frontend engineers focused on the Observability platform. You will manage team growth, collaborate with product leadership on the Fleet Management and Instrumentation Hub tools, and foster a culture of innovation and psychological safety. This role requires a customer-focused leader who can navigate complex distributed systems and support a remote-first, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a team of backend and frontend engineers, providing regular feedback and supporting career growth.
• Collaborate with go-to-market teams to ensure customer success with observability collection.
• Partner with product and engineering leadership to integrate Fleet Management, Kubernetes Helm Charts, and the Instrumentation Hub into the user experience.
• Provide guidance throughout the project lifecycle from ideation to post-launch.
• Foster a psychologically safe environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to projects outside the immediate team scope and partner with other functions to solve customer problems.
