Controller

About the role

Notabene is seeking a Controller to own the financial close, accounting policy, and the company's first external financial statement audit. You will manage a multi-entity, multi-currency business, overseeing accounting operations, technical accounting, and the implementation of automated systems. This role reports to the VP of Finance and involves leading a small team and coordinating with external providers.

Responsibilities

• Run the readiness assessment and remediation plan for the first external audit.
• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple legal entities.
• Author technical accounting positions and memos for revenue recognition and software capitalization.
• Design and implement internal controls over revenue, cash, and payroll.
• Evaluate and improve the accounting stack with a focus on automation.
• Manage US tax compliance and coordinate Swiss compliance with local accountants.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager at a venture-backed company
• Experience taking a company through a first external audit

• Experience developing a small team or a single direct report
