Senior Software Engineer (Typescript), AI Clients: Duo CLI

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Duo CLI team, you will design and build tools that integrate GitLab Duo into developers' terminal workflows. You will shape AI-assisted experiences, make architectural decisions, and provide technical leadership to ensure high code quality and performance. This role involves working primarily in TypeScript while collaborating across the broader AI Clients stage to deliver intuitive developer tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and evolution of GitLab Duo CLI features from problem definition through implementation and iteration.
• Build interactive terminal experiences in TypeScript with a focus on command design, output formatting, and backward compatibility.
• Drive reliability, observability, and performance improvements for the CLI while reducing technical debt.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering teams to align technical decisions with broader strategy.
• Champion product quality, security, and developer experience through code reviews and mentorship.
• Contribute to IDE extension work across the group, including JetBrains plugins and VS Code extensions.
