Principal Software Engineer (Java)

About the role

Anaplan is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join our team in York. You will lead the design and architecture of platform capabilities, including API gateways and edge routing, while building high-throughput backend engines to support our enterprise decision-making platform.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, delivery, and architecture of platform capabilities powering enterprise-scale API gateways and edge routing.
• Build and scale high-throughput backend engines for request orchestration and multi-tenant isolation.
• Partner with architects to set technical direction for complex initiatives like authentication flows and cross-service proxying.
• Drive the evolution of deployment infrastructure using GitOps workflows and containerized orchestration.
• Own foundational features end-to-end while improving system observability and solving concurrency challenges.
• Deliver coding excellence across Java and Kotlin, ensuring seamless integration between microservices and UI components.
• Mentor and elevate engineers through design reviews, pair programming, and hands-on leadership.
