Senior Backend Engineer, Core DevOps

About the role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design, implement, and evolve product capabilities while solving high-scope backend problems. You will influence the technical direction of the team and work across product, infrastructure, and security boundaries to improve system quality and performance. This role requires a focus on architectural trade-offs and clear communication within an asynchronous, remote-first environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship moderate to complex backend features with minimal guidance.
• Define backend standards for style, maintainability, testing, APIs, and operational readiness.
• Mentor associate and intermediate engineers and improve team delivery practices.
• Diagnose and prevent performance and reliability issues at scale.
• Use AI in production engineering work to improve outcomes and coach others on its use.
