About the role
Notabene is seeking a Controller to own the financial close, accounting policy, and the company's first external financial statement audit. You will manage a two-entity, multi-currency business, overseeing accounting operations, technical accounting, and the implementation of automated systems. This role reports to the VP of Finance and involves leading the accounting function through complex growth phases.
Responsibilities
- Run the readiness assessment and manage the relationship with external auditors for the first financial statement audit.
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple legal entities.
- Produce GAAP financial statements, consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and FX translations.
- Author technical accounting memos for revenue recognition, software capitalization, and stock compensation.
- Design and implement internal controls over revenue, cash, procurement, and payroll.
- Evaluate and improve the accounting stack with a focus on automation and agentic tooling.

Qualifications
- Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager at a venture-backed company
- Track record of taking a company through a first external audit
- Experience with month-end close ownership across two or more legal entities
- Experience developing a small team or a single direct report
