About the role
Newsweek is seeking an AI Policy Reporter to join its UK-based digital newsroom, producing fast, accurate and original coverage of artificial intelligence policy, regulation and governance for an American audience. The reporter will source, pitch, research and develop breaking news, explainers, features and enterprise reporting while ensuring all coverage is accurate and in line with accepted standards of journalism.
Responsibilities
- Produce multiple articles each day to a high editorial standard.
- Pitch original ideas and develop exclusives by securing expert and source quotes, obtaining documents and data, and advancing stories.
- Research and write original stories, explainers and features covering AI policy, regulation, governance and emerging technologies.
- Respond quickly to breaking news and policy developments involving governments, regulators, technology companies and international institutions.
- Monitor government announcements, industry reports, social media, Google Trends and other relevant sources for emerging stories, trends and conversations.
- Apply sound editorial judgement and rigorous fact-checking to ensure accuracy, fairness, clarity and journalistic integrity.
- Collaborate with editors, visuals and audience teams to package stories with graphics, images, video and embeds.
- Meet tight deadlines and respond flexibly to the demands of a fast-paced digital newsroom.
