About the role
Proxima Fusion is seeking a skilled technician to support the build, assembly, integration, and testing of complex, first-of-a-kind hardware for stellarator fusion power plants. You will work hands-on with components, magnets, and mechanical assemblies, collaborating with engineering and quality teams to turn designs into reliable hardware. This role involves troubleshooting processes, developing tooling, and documenting procedures to ensure high-precision production.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate and change over the HTS cable line and plate assembly stations.
- Carry out precision assembly, fitting, fabrication and approved rework using drawings and work instructions.
- Troubleshoot process, assembly and quality problems and implement verified corrections.
- Verify setups and inspect assemblies against released acceptance criteria.
- Work with equipment technicians on machine faults and provide feedback to engineers on buildability.
- Run first-article builds and process trials to prove tooling and equipment.
- Write, redline and improve work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Maintain complete build records, material traceability and deviation records.
