About the role

Wave is seeking a CTO to lead our engineering organization as we scale our financial services across Africa. You will own the engineering systems, people, and standards, ensuring reliability and performance for millions of users. This role involves building and leading a leadership layer, setting our AI vision, and supporting our expansion into new markets.

Responsibilities

• Protect engineering standards and simplicity as the team grows
• Ensure system reliability, uptime, and secure incident response
• Build and lead the leadership layer, including hiring and developing managers and directors
• Set and execute the company vision for AI integration
• Plan architecture and organizational structure to support rapid growth
• Represent engineering to the company, regulators, and leadership team

Qualifications

• Experience managing an engineering organization of approximately 100 people
• Experience managing managers
