Light Generation Lead

About the role

The Light Generation Lead will oversee the development of laser front-end technology, transitioning R&D hardware into an industrially deliverable system for inertial confinement fusion. This role involves technical leadership, managing supplier relationships, and establishing a multi-year technology roadmap. You will lead a technical team to ensure requirements are met while balancing performance, documentation, and delivery timelines.

Responsibilities

• Own and develop front-end technology to meet interface requirements defined by systems engineering.
• Develop and execute a detailed technology roadmap connecting projects to long-term goals.
• Lead the technical team, establishing clear responsibilities and accountability as the group scales.
• Manage external development and manufacturing partners, including supplier strategy and contract negotiations.
• Transform existing research and hardware into an industrial engineering baseline with traceable requirements and design reviews.
• Identify and manage technical and delivery risks while communicating decisions to executive leadership.
